Our advisers

Five people. You will speak to the same one each year.

Everyone here is licensed in all three states and completes carrier certification every year before Annual Enrollment opens. When you telephone and give your name, the person answering already knows your situation.

Margaret Ellison

Founder and principal adviser

Margaret spent eleven years in hospital billing before she started Clearview. She had watched too many people arrive at a billing window holding a plan that did not do what they had been told it did.

She started the agency on the premise that the explaining comes first and the enrolment comes afterwards, if at all.

Handles the complicated files: people still working past 65, anyone weighing whether to leave a supplement, and every case where somebody has already enrolled in something that does not suit them.

About the initials. Where we do not have a genuine photograph of an adviser, this page shows their initials rather than a stock image or a generated face. A picture of somebody who does not work here, on a page about who will advise you on your health coverage, would be a strange place to start.

What licensing actually means

Two things worth asking any Medicare agent.

Are you licensed in my state, and appointed with the carrier you are recommending?

An agent must hold a state insurance licence and be separately appointed by each insurance company whose plans they sell. Both are checkable through your state's department of insurance, and you are entitled to ask.

Have you completed this year's certification?

Agents selling Medicare Advantage and Part D must certify annually — typically AHIP or an equivalent — plus product training for each carrier. Certification lapses; last year's does not count.

Everyone at Clearview completes both before Annual Enrollment opens each October. If you would like to see the documentation, ask and we will show you.

Ask for someone by name.

Or telephone the office and describe your situation — whoever answers will put you with the right person.
